Disney Style!

For some of us, we don't seem to fully grow out of our love for Disney. I have always loved everything Disney, but my obsession grew even stronger once I had children.

My daughter's wardrobe definitely has a Disney element, which she tends to want as an everyday staple. I don't mind that, as Disney apparel for children definitely increases the cute factor.

I do love Disney inspired fashion for adults as well, but I don't always want it to dominate my outfit. A more subtle approach is key!

Below is a typical outfit I would style with Disney elements, while still keeping personal style the main ingredient!

This outfit features a few Disney elements. The first is a Mickey Mouse t-shirt found (here). I love this t-shirt because it takes a grow-up approach to the classic Disney character Mickey Mouse.

I have styled it with a black jersey pencil skirt found (here), and Dolce Vita booties found (here).

In keeping with personal style, I have layered a vintage fur vest over the t-shirt. The fur vest adds a little edge, and warmth if you live in Canada like me!

If you know me, you know I love accessories! I am not one to say "less is more" when it comes to layering on the accessories. To keep this outfit simple for daytime, I would usually stick with a chunky watch, similar one found (here), and a few beaded bracelets found (here). I might even add a hair clip if I wasn't having a fab hair day. Minnie Mouse inspired clip found (here).

For transitioning into a nighttime look, I would add on a few more accessories. Maybe a chunky bracelet found (here), and a large cocktail ring found (here).

RayBan Aviator Sunglasses, Minnie Mouse Hair Clip and Nautical Bracelet by The Ropes Maine

Tory Burch Perfume, Disney Couture Alice in Wonderland Bangle
Lavender Mickey Mouse Beaded Bracelet by Giddy Up & Grow
Another great retailer that does Disney apparel really well, is H&M. I am also crushing on the Aritzia & Disney Collaboration found (here).

To purchase the Minnie Mouse hair clip and Disney inspired bead bracelet from Giddy Up & Grow, you will have to wait until April 7th. My shop is currently closed while I take a much needed mini holiday!!

Fall 2013 Sneak Peek

OMG, its been forever since I put any effort into blogging. If I am being honest with myself, I don't love blogging. I am not very good at it!! Give me a pair of scissors, and I know what to do, but put me in front of a computer to write, and its an epic fail...

However, I have been hard at work designing and creating the Fall/Halloween 2013 collection. It will be available for sale when I get back from summer vacation, on August 14th. It wont be a huge Halloween Collection this year, but the pieces I do include, will be my most favourite! Lots of times, I create a bunch of pieces and then narrow it down to the ones I love the most. Lots of pieces don't make the "cut"!!

My kids are obsessed with Halloween, and I love that. Its my most favourite time of year! Here are some snap shots from the recent Halloween photo shoot, which includes the new "Kitty Witch" Headband, available in newborn to adult sizes!

For other Halloween pieces, expect cameos, bows, flowers, and glow in the dark pieces!!

Stay tuned...

April Headlines

Oops I missed March... I came down with a bad case of bronchitis and truthfully, I was just trying to stay awake. Up all night with my kids coughing and myself, does not make for a very fun or productive month!!

With that said, we are on the mend and looking forward to spring here in our part of Canada!! We still have snow on the ground, and typically can still see a good dump of snow until May. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we are done for the year!!

Here are April's Headlines and what you can expect to see from Giddy Up & Grow in the upcoming month!

APRIL SHOWERS

When I think of Spring, I think of bright colors and Daffodils! Giddy Up & Grow has the perfect spring accessory to match those Spring dresses! This is the Daffodil Headband and is available in the shop!

EASTER ~ DRESSING IN YOUR SUNDAY BEST

My kids can't seem to keep their clothes clean and winkle free for more than a hot minute, so finding something dressy to put them in for Easter is just cray cray!! However, I can always manage to find something creative, uber cute and affordable over at Little Wellies. My daughter loves the Disney inspired outfits, and I love to support other hand made shops! Check out this adorable number, with perfect Easter colors and inspired by the new Disney show "Sophia the First".

Spring into Summer

I have had some major inspiration over the past several weeks. Lots of new items have been created and listed in the shop!

I started with a few Spring items inspired by the Circus!

Big Top Bow

Circus Balloons

 Circus Pony

 The Ringmaster
Circus Hair Clips

The Circus hair accessories wont be around much longer, so if you want one, grab one before they are gone!

Living in the part of Canada that we do, we have winter for about 8 months out of the year. Thinking about summer is always on my mind... This summer's accessories have many inspirations including Aztec prints, gypsy bohemian princess, lemonade stands, summer treats like ice cream cones and Popsicles, nautical elements and the beach!

Here are a few of my favourite Summer accessories from the shop!

I know it may be hard to believe, but I am already planning and designing the Fall collection with Halloween items!! Stay tuned...

Finally, a shout out to Canadian Family Magazine! Thank you for using one of my Valentine's Day hair clips on the March front cover!

WHO IS YOUR VALENTINE'S DAY DATE?

Some people feel that Valentine's Day is just for kids... That you don't need one day to express your love to your loved ones. I agree on that. We shouldn't just use Valentine's Day as an excuse to say the words "I love you", or to do something nice for someone we love. These gestures should be done throughout the year. However, I do think Valentine's Day is the perfect day to go over the top! Why not write your partner an extra special love letter, buy a giant bouquet of flowers, or spend some special time with friends??? There are all different types of love in the world, why not shout it to the world!!

RECIPE

Here is an over-the-top recipe for Red Velvet Waffles that is sure to please any loved one! If you don't have a waffle iron, convert these beauties into Pancakes!

This recipe is courtesy of www.alittletipsy.com. Find the recipe by clicking on the picture!

COLOUR TREND: PEACH & MINT

Valentine's Day doesn't just have to be red, white and pink... Why not try something fresh and new like Peach & Mint!! These colours look great together, and you can wear these colours all year round! Here is a Peach & Mint Bow Headband with gold glitter heart centre by Giddy Up & Grow!

VALENTINE'S DAY CARDS: DO OR DON'T?

Do you or your children like to hand out Valentine's Day cards? My kids do at school, and I like to give something special and silly to my kids on this day. Cards can get very expensive, so why not make your own!! Here are some FREE printable V-Day cards that work for little girls and boys. All you need is a printer! Click here for instructions on the FREE printable cards provided by www.pumpkinsandposies.com.
